Indoor plants in an office live in a harder environment than most people realise: low light, dry air, irregular watering and no one clearly in charge. A planned maintenance routine is what turns a one-off installation into greenery that stays attractive.
What a good visit includes
- Checking soil moisture and watering each plant to its needs
- Removing dead leaves and flowers, and trimming where needed
- Wiping or cleaning leaves so they can photosynthesise
- Looking for pests and disease, and treating early
- Feeding on a seasonal schedule
- Rotating or replacing plants that are declining
How often do plants need a visit?
Most office displays do well with a weekly or fortnightly visit, depending on plant type and the number of plants. Large lobby displays or greenwalls often need more frequent attention. Ask for a schedule by area.
Match plants to the room
Low-light floors suit hardy plants such as snake plant and ZZ plant. Bright lobbies can handle palms and larger statement plants. See our guide to plants for low-light offices for options.
Plan for replacement
Some losses are normal. A good service replaces declining plants promptly, so that the display never looks tired, and tells you when the cause is the room rather than the plant.
Ask for simple reporting
A short visit log, with notes on what was done and any issues, is enough. It tells your team the service is happening and helps you spot problems such as a room that is consistently too dark.
Multi-floor and multi-city offices
If you have several floors or offices in different cities, ask whether one provider can keep the same standard everywhere. Consistent plants, planters and schedules make the workplace feel cared for.
